About

About Us

The need for emergency food does not appear to be diminishing.

We support local individuals and families in crisis who cannot afford to put food on the table, referred to us by local agencies, (such as Children & Family Centres, local primary and secondary schools, churches, hospitals, Citizens Advice, and GP Surgeries). Since we started with a few food boxes in a garage in East Grinstead in December 2012, we have now helped over 19,474 people, of which 7,726were children.

Close to 3 million emergency food parcels were distributed by Food Banks in the Trussell Trust network in the past 12 months — the most parcels ever distributed by the network in a year.

Food Banks in the Trussell Trust network saw the highest ever levels of need, even more than during the peak of the pandemic, as more people found their incomes did not cover the cost of essentials like heating and food. Between April 2022 and March 2023, the number of people that used a food bank for the first time was 760,000.

We are located in the Jubilee Community Centre on Charlwoods Road, East Grinstead

We are open 3 times a week:
Mondays from 1 pm to 3pm (not on bank holidays)
Wednesdays from 1 pm to 3pm
Fridays from 1pm to 3pm

The services we offer are ‘More than Food’

We are a charity based on true Christian values and we seek to make a difference by giving hope, love and practical assistance to clients in need.

The services that we offer are far more than just food although this is an essential part of what we do.

Food

We offer clients who have a voucher :

  • A warm friendly non judgmental welcome
  • A cup of tea/coffee (where facilities allow)
  • Time to listen face to face
  • 3 days nutritional food appropriate to the size of the family

We can assist clients who do not have a voucher but this may result in clients having to wait to be assessed.

More – than – Food

We often are able to assist with toiletry items such as shower gel, shampoo, feminine hygiene products & baby nappies.
